Gentle nutrition is one of the key principles of Intuitive Eating, a framework created by dieticians Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch that is a weight-inclusive approach to eating. From autumn 2020, you'll be able to book into a nutrition consultation focused on Intuitive Eating and the non-diet approach with me, should you wish. When working through the principles of Intuitive Eating, gentle nutrition is often one of the last things we'll come to as it may be more important to work on your relationship with food rather than focusing on what you are eating at first.
Gentle nutrition brings in the understanding we have around food, whilst honouring your body's needs. Food is not simply a mix of macronutrients and calories. It is an essential component to our social, cultural and mental health as well as our physical optimisation. It is homemade cake eaten when visiting family. It is hot toast after a night dancing to music with friends. It is ice cream and fresh fruit sat by the sea on holiday. Gentle nutrition honours the multifaceted nature of why we eat.

Whether you are coming to a nutrition session to manage a condition, diet optimisation, pregnancy advice, or to work on your relationship with food, we can work together to find the right level of nutritional intervention for you -and that might be none at all.
Gentle nutrition isn't just about what textbooks say about what you should eat. You'll learn to tune in to how different foods make you feel, as part of an ongoing dialogue with your body. And that is a beautiful thing.
