Today the boutique gym Blok opens its doors to its third studio and the first outside of London. Dubbed Blok MCR studio is located close to Piccadilly Station at the newly renovated Ducie Street Warehouse. The studios are known for their strong design aesthetic, with exposed brickwork and in-house designers that will meld in perfectly with Manchester’s northern quarter. More than just a bricks and mortar gym, Blok aims to fuse fitness, fashion, art and design across all of their studios. Co-founder of BLOK, Reema Stanbury said: “Manchester was a natural choice for the third Blok. We are drawn to creative hubs and Manchester, especially the Northern Quarter, has a thriving and growing creative community.”
Blok offers over 25 class concepts including a variety of yoga style, high intensity functional fitness classes, boxing, barre and pilates. Special classes run over the weekend will introduce newcomers to Blok’s signature training styles, as well as a chance to try massages, facials, shake and nutrition consultations. With three studios available, you’ll have 180 workouts per week to choose from. There is already a full roster of experienced instructors, including Northern Wellness Guide contributor Vicki. The quality of the trainers, combined with the variety and specificity of classes are part of the reason that Blok has grown rapidly in popularity since opening in 2016 in Clapham.
Blok’s founders stated that they want the studio to be more than just a gym, instead being a destination. And with Blok MCR being nestled in among the UK’s largest new aparthotel, mini cinema, cafe and restaurant, it is already set to be a city centre hub.
As part of the opening weekend, Blok are offering their 14 day trial pass for £25. Find out more, and book here.
