Want to start 2017 in a healthy way, whilst getting to meet with likeminded of people? If you are based in or around Leeds, I have the event for you: in my first role as a Health Bloggers Community Ambassador, I’m excited to bring you an exclusive class with the new BarreCore Leeds. On January 14th at 10:30, come along for a taste of BarreCore, and feel free to get some retail therapy in whilst you are there -we will be conveniently based just above Sweaty Betty in the Victoria Quarter. Barre and ballet-style training classes have been taking New York and London by storm over the last few years, but are less common outside of the capital. Lead BarreCore instructor Natasha Wynn leant me her time to explain what barre training is and why it is so effective:
I used to be a professional dancer, and have been a barrecore instructor for more than three years. I can honestly say, I am stronger now than when I danced all day, every day.
Whether you’re a seasoned gym-goer looking for a change, a marathon runner needing some cross-training, or someone who’s just starting out on their fitness journey, barre fitness is a great workout for anyone. It’s a low impact class that works pri
marily with isometric movement. The muscles are held and strengthened while in contraction, meaning that the muscle fibres are not shortened as they’re trained. After each muscle group is worked, it’s immediately stretched, helping to gain the longer, leaner muscle look that so many people love…akin to the ‘dancer’s body’. Before you panic, you definitely don’t have to be a dancer to take c
lass, the movements are simply inspired by ballet technique. No pirouettes required.
Barrecore will have you shaking, burning, and wishing the last 10-second count down could go just a little faster, but at the end of class you’ll feel exhilarated, stretched out, and walking a little bit taller.
If this sounds like how you’d like to spend a Saturday, head to the Eventbrite page to sign up -places are limited so be quick! BarreCore are offering the class at a discounted price of £10, on the door, which you won’t find outside here. I can’t wait to stretch, flex and sweat with you all. Tweet me if you’re going and find out who else you’ll be meeting.
